Wouldn’t you like to know more about Salesforce mergers and acquisitions so that you can optimize tasks and workflows across your organization. Think about how Salesforce now integrates with Slack so teams can communicate and collaborate faster, with all customer interactions synced to the CRM platform.
That’s pretty impressive, but you can’t optimize your operations if you don’t know what’s happening in the world.
Join us in the article below to examine some of Salesforce’s software purchases that make business operations run smoother.
Salesforce has made many BIG purchases over the years! The company has been adding popular software to its product portfolio to:
Let’s discuss a few of the greatest assets added to the Salesforce acquisitions list.
Slack is a messaging platform widely used by businesses. So, when Salesforce bought Slack on July 21, 2021, for $27.7 billion, it was an important move for the CRM giant. With its Slack and Salesforce integration, the company was able to improve collaboration for teams in an org with better communication tools and messaging features. This integration was crucial to adapting to the new office environments, which included remote and hybrid work.
This acquisition strategy allowed Salesforce to compete with Microsoft Teams, a massive player in the business communication space. The advantage of acquiring Slack is that all customer interactions sync directly to Salesforce. This action helps sales, marketing, and customer service teams be more productive at work while speeding up workflows for everyone in an organization thanks to real-time communication for collaboration.
Tableau is a popular piece of software used by many teams to visualize business data more effectively. Salesforce purchased Tableau in 2019 for $15.7 billion and improved its data analytics offerings as a result. Teams can now use the Tableau integration with Salesforce to understand business data in new ways.
Salesforce used this acquisition to strengthen its position in the data analytics market. By purchasing Tableau, they could offer customers analytic solutions integrated into Salesforce. For example, one benefit that analysts can enjoy from a Salesforce and Tableau integration is the embedded analytics capabilities. This means that teams have access to Tableau’s visualization tools and features in Salesforce Clouds, like:
Now, analysts can create interactive dashboards and reports from Salesforce to view data flexibly.
MuleSoft is known as software for integrating business apps, data, and devices. Salesforce wanted this integration software in its portfolio so that it could offer customers better data transfer solutions. After dropping just $6.5 billion for MuleSoft in May 2018, Salesforce was able to integrate with many more systems and data sources.
The MuleSoft integration with Salesforce was key in making sure users could get data from customer interactions across any touchpoint. That customer data could be added to Salesforce for comprehensive analysis and reporting.
Quip is a business productivity platform that merges documents, spreadsheets, and communication tools in one system. It’s useful software for any business that wants to improve office productivity.
Quip is one of Salesforce’s earlier acquisitions. The deal occurred in 2016, and Salesforce purchased the software for $750 million.
The Quip integration with Salesforce allowed the CRM giant to provide trailblazers with productivity tools that could compete directly with Microsoft Office 365 and Google Workspace.
Salesforce had a plan to purchase Informatica. However, that deal is no longer in progress.
Spiff is Salesforce’s most recent purchase as of December 2023. This software that uses low-code skills specializes in incentive compensation management (ICM). With Sales Cloud and Spiff combined, we get to see tools for automating sales commissions and incentive plans.
That would be Slack. Salesforce purchased Slack for $27.7 billion in 2021.
