With Validation Rules from Salesforce, you can control and maintain the quality of your data. All you need to do is determine the criteria you want before a Salesforce user saves a record.
Join us in the article below as we look at two Salesforce Validation Rule examples.
Before we start on some examples, we would like to explain validating data quickly.
Simply put, to define “validate” with regards to Salesforce data means keeping your work on the platform accurate and error-free.
We ensure Salesforce data validation so that any information added to your platform is trustworthy and reliable. Let’s look at two examples you could use in the real world, and two different types of validation rules in Salesforce.
The Required fields validation rules ensure that the fields you want to be filled with data are not left empty. The automation formula for this data validation rule will be ISBLANK(FieldName).
The next validation rule in Salesforce we present to you is for confirming the maximum length of text fields. The formula to use in this scenario is: LEN(TextField__c) > 255
Salesforce provides several data validation tools to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data within its platform. Some of the key tools are Validation Rules, Field Validations, Duplicate Management, Apex Triggers, and Process Builder and Flow.
The amount depends on your Salesforce edition. In Essentials and Professional editions, there are 20 Salesforce validation rules, whereas in Enterprise and Developer editions, you get 100. If you are on the Unlimited and Performance edition, you can enjoy the benefits of 500 validation rules.
