The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) is a global humanitarian organization working across more than 120+ countries.

ADRA has supported 10.8 million people through 1,116 projects. With a network of nearly 6,000 people working across four core areas: health, education, livelihoods, and emergency response.Β

ADRA’s programs span a wide range of communities and needs. In Australia, ADRA’s work includes soup kitchens and volunteer initiatives. The organization also supports crop improvement projects in Zambia and Asia. In the Solomon Islands, ADRA works with the cocoa bean industry to improve access to international export markets.

Challenge

Salesforce sits at the center of ADRA’s donation, volunteer management, and peer-to-peer fundraising programs. Building new internal processes often required costly development support, so ADRA needed a faster, more affordable way to create and maintain Salesforce workflows in-house.Β

Volunteer management also needed to be simpler. Many volunteers are retirees who are less comfortable with complex systems, passwords, and logins. Any Salesforce volunteer management app had to make it easy to record hours without requiring volunteers to navigate Salesforce.Β

Keeping donor and contact records up to date was another time-consuming process. Updates relied on phone calls, letters, emails, and other manual follow-ups, while unstructured information made Salesforce data hygiene harder to maintain. ADRA needed a simpler way for donors and volunteers to keep their own details up to date.

Solution

After comparing several options and receiving expensive development quotes, ADRA selected Titan Experience Studio to build Salesforce-connected processes in-house at a lower cost and with less reliance on developers.

For volunteer management, ADRA created a kiosk-style timesheet experience used across projects in Australia. Volunteers check in and out on a tablet or laptop, while Titan calculates their hours and writes the data to Salesforce. Managers review the records at the end of the day and submit them in a batch, replacing manual processes and a previously developed CSV upload approach.

ADRA also created a mobile experience using unique links tied to each volunteer’s Salesforce record. Volunteers can save the unique link as an icon on their phone, creating an experience similar to aΒ no-code Salesforce app for nonprofits without requiring them to navigate Salesforce.Β

The same self-service approach is used for donor data. Bulk email campaigns send unique links to 4,000 recipients, allowing them to update contact details, telephone numbers, and communication preferences through aΒ Salesforce donor self-service form. Changes appear in Salesforce in real time, reducing manual follow-up, with SMS links also available for mobile updates.

Impact

70% Cost Savings
ADRA estimates savings of up to 70% across projects built with Titan compared with traditional development costs.

40% Savings on Smaller Projects
ADRA estimates that its Salesforce volunteer registration form reduced project costs by 30% to 40%.Β

4K People Reached Through One Campaign
Instead of making phone calls to donors, ADRA sends one bulk email campaign to 4,000 recipients. Each person receives a unique link for updating contact details and communication preferences, with submitted changes reflected in Salesforce in real time.Β

Simpler Volunteer Workflows
The volunteer timesheet app replaced manual processes and a previously developed CSV upload approach. Check-in and check-out data now connects to Salesforce for managers to review.Β

Faster No-Code Salesforce Development
When ADRA identifies a new process or smaller Salesforce project, its team can build more in-house with Titan. This reduces its dependence on developers while lowering development time and cost.Β

Self-Service Updates Improve Data Hygiene
ADRA supports Salesforce data hygiene from automation by allowing donors and volunteers to update their own information through mobile-friendly forms connected to Salesforce.Β

Strong Volunteer Adoption
Volunteers quickly adopted the mobile and kiosk check-in app for Salesforce experiences because they are simple to use. Staff are also requesting that more internal processes be built with Titan.Β

β€œWith Titan, we don't have to rely on developers, and we've saved a lot of money. Those Salesforce cost savings, as a nonprofit, are incredibly important to us.”
