How to Create Forms in Salesforce
There is no doubt that Salesforce is the most robust customer relationship management (CRM) platform online! Businesses around the world create forms in Salesforce to help streamline and automate their sales, marketing, and customer service workflow processes.
Creating forms for your business that integrate seamlessly with your Salesforce account is crucial to streamlining your data collection workflows. Understanding your customer data is essential to creating successful marketing campaigns and sales strategies. For these reasons, it’s best to keep all your collected customer data in one place, like Salesforce, so that you can analyze data and make insightful business decisions.
What are Salesforce Forms?
These are the forms that you can create for collecting data based on a list of pre-determined questions. Create forms in Salesforce using intelligent software, and you can automatically sync your data and updates from your forms into your CRM system in real-time.
When you integrate and create Salesforce forms correctly, they can be extremely useful for making and updating records so that you can eliminate any errors that occur from manual data entry. This type of seamless automation also boosts staff productivity as they can spend time on other project tasks instead of time-consuming data entry.
How to Create a Form
So, even though Salesforce is a giant in the industry and provides many features, functionalities, and tools to track and work with your data, to create forms in Salesforce takes a lot of work! To create an online form in Salesforce, you will need a form-builder tool, and there are many out there that can help you. However, not all are made equal 😉
Here are the Different Form Builder Salesforce Options
There are many reasons for choosing a 3rd-party Salesforce integration to help you create online forms, one of them being pure flexibility regarding customizing and branding your content.
Some top-rated and reliable form builders on the market include Google Forms, Formstack, and Wufoo. But to use these form-builders successfully to create forms in Salesforce, you also need to consider how to connect these platforms. Often, you will need middleware platforms like Zapier or Pardot to help you integrate your Salesforce form generator.
However, if you choose to join Titan as your no-code platform of choice for Salesforce, you get to skip the middleware platforms and enjoy 100% Salesforce integration with a bi-directional data flow between the two software providers!
Salesforce Forms Builder
But back to the Salesforce form builder, which you can totally use to create forms that collect data from your customers. You just need to have access to the Discovery Framework feature powered by OmniStudio. The Salesforce Discovery Framework can help you in Salesforce form creation that include branching, rendering, and even forking logic. The user interface is also intuitive, especially if you are used to working within the Salesforce ecosystem.
It’s important to note that the Discovery Framework feature is only available in Lightning Experience under Enterprise, Professional, and Unlimited editions. You also need to have your Financial Services Cloud or Health Cloud licenses activated. And remember to check that you also have your OmniStudio Admin permissions active, as you will need this requirement to create a form.
Simple Guide to Creating Forms in Salesforce
So, now that you have all your editions and user permissions sorted let’s take a look at how to create online forms in Salesforce.
Follow the step-by-step guide below to use the form wizard to create a new form.
1. Start by heading over to the App Launcher and search for Assessment Questions. When it appears in the field, please select it and change your list view to All Assessment Questions.
2. Next, you can click on Select Questions so that you can enter the OmniScript requirements, such as high-level metadata that includes Name, Language, Type, and SubType.
It’s important to understand the metadata related to Type, SubType, and Language, so we will briefly cover it here in our Creating Forms in Salesforce section.
The metadata values you provide will create a unique identifier that will be the name of OmniScript’s Lightning web component. As an example, if you provide the following details for your OmniScript:
- Type: report
- SubType: Build
- Language: Spanish
The generated unique identifier for your LWC will be reportBuildSpanish.
Now you can go ahead and create questions in your form. With the Discovery Framework feature, you can combine multiple questions into a group or an individual step. Additionally, you can build numerous steps that contain multiple questions in each step.
3. To create a step in your form, click on Add Step. Then, change the title of the step by clicking on the edit icon found in the step header.
4. Enter your new step name and press Enter when you are happy with your choice.
5. You can continue creating your form by searching for questions before inserting them. The Discovery Framework feature has a search engine that will look up question types from assessment questions and question version records.
6. The last thing to do now is build your OmniScript. Click on Build OmniScript found in the page header, to create an OmniScript for the form. This action will open the OmniScript Designer in a new tab.
7. Now it’s time to get creative by using OmniScript Designer to choose the layout of your form, set up your UI elements, configure your form logic, and troubleshoot your form with preview features.
And once you are done creating a form in Salesforce we highly recommend that you test it before publishing. You want to make sure that the form works, collects data that syncs to Salesforce seamlessly, and meets the requirements of your project.
And that’s the low down on how to create an online form!
