How to Add a Section in Page Layout Salesforce?

A Page Layout in Salesforce Lightning creates the foundation of your user interface. With a Page Layout, you can control, customize, and select which objects and information you would like to display to Salesforce users. But before you add a section in page layout Salesforce, it’s important to understand Fields and Sections, as these two features are the key components in Salesforce Page Layouts. And that’s why you are here as well, right? To find out where they are in Lightning Experience.

So, Fields and Sections in a Lightning Page Layout have a host of advantages, including streamlining how you enter data into Salesforce and improving the experiences that your staff have when working with the interface. Generally, Page Layouts in Salesforce gives you the power to set up fields, related lists, and other components where you want on a record detail page. However, when you choose the Lightning Experience, the Fields and Sections are located in specific locations on a Record Detail page. Highlights Panel | Salesforce

The Salesforce Highlights Panel is a Section found at the top of the record page. Use this section to give users a few short bits of information that relates to the Record page and what they can expect to find on it. Most Salesforce users add essential information to the Salesforce Highlight Panel so that users can view it first to gain an understanding of the Record page quickly.

Record Detail | Salesforce

In a Salesforce new record page layout, the Record Detail is the primary section of your page. This is where most of the Fields on your Page Layout will appear in a tabular format. Your Fields can store URLs, images, or references to external resources and may also appear in numerous Sections depending on your Page Layout.

Just a note to set up the pane that displays images, resources, and definitions effectively with the page layout editor. (We discuss the page layout editor later in this article, so stick around if you want to know more).

Related Lists | Salesforce

Related lists are used to show records from associated objects. They tend to have a lookup connection with a record, and you can find your Related Lists for an object in an individual or separate Section on your Record page.

Activity and Chatter | Salesforce

Activity and Chatter are both Sections, and they are found below the Record Detail section. Use the Activity and Chatter sections to show information related to tasks, events, or chatter feeds related to the record.

Customize Record Page Components and Fields

Custom Components include an event table layout generator, Lightning Web Components, 3rd-party applications, Visualforce pages, and so much more. These custom components can be arranged anywhere you like on a Lightning Record Page. Field section components in Salesforce are excellent at providing added functions that can help you interact in more ways with your record data.

You can set up and customize your Lightning Record Page with Page Layout Settings in Salesforce to obtain the exact format that you need to display data. Every organization’s Lightning Record Page will be unique and different as they all have specific business needs. For this reason, Salesforce allows your administrators to design custom Page Layouts for Lightning Record Pages so that your staff can view and access data that is relevant to their workflow processes.

How to Edit a Page Layout in Salesforce Lightning

You can easily edit a Page layout in Salesforce Lightning.

1. Log in to your Salesforce account and head over to the Setup page.
2. Use the Quick Find box to search for Object Manager, and then select it.
3. Now choose the object that you would like to edit. The page layout could be for an Account, Contact, or even Opportunity object.
4. When you have selected the page layout for the object you would like to edit, find the section named Page Layouts. In this section, you can click on Page Layouts to find which layouts are available for your object.
5. Click on the Edit link next to the page layout you want to edit.
6. You now have access to the page layout editor! Proceed by adding or removing components to customize your layout. These components also refer to fields, related lists, and other custom components that we explained earlier in this article.
7. Remember to save the changes you made to your layout so that you can view your updates.

How to Add an Element to the Center Section of the Header to Display the Current Date

To add an element to the center section of the header to display just the current date is quite easy too.

Follow the below steps to implement the feature on your page. This functionality can totally enhance your home page layout in Salesforce.

1. Head over to the Object Page Layout if you wish to add an element.
2. Select the Edit Object option after clicking on the gear icon found in the upper-right corner of your screen.
3. Continue to edit your page layout by clicking on the Page Layouts link found in the left sidebar of your object’s detail page.
4. Select the page layout you would like to edit.
5. You will now have access to the page layout editor, which you can use to add a custom component.
6. Click on the Header section and find the Components tab. It is located on the left side of the editor or can be accessed from the + icon in the Header section.
7. Once you open the Components tab, select the Custom option, and then drag the Visualforce Page component into the center of your header section.
8. Use the configuration window that pops up to select and display your current date.
9. Remember to save your updates in the page layout editor.

It’s that simple! You will now notice that when you look at your object’s detail page, your current date is added to the center of your header section.
