Titan, Value Stream & Salesforce Nonprofit Partnership | Webinar
Titan and Value Stream: A Special Connection
On 8th June 2022, Titan connected with Value Stream Consulting to discuss the benefits of Salesforce for the non-profit industry. The session also spotlighted some of the special features of the partnership between Titan and Value Stream, and charted some exciting plans for the future. The relationship between Titan and Value Stream is defined by a mutual desire for excellence, and for providing organizations with a more extended Salesforce experience. Read on to learn more about the great work Value Stream Consulting, combined with the dynamism of Titan, is doing for the not-for-profit community.
Who is featured in this Webinar?
Titan was joined by Jessica Pasley, Senior Director of Professional Services at Value Stream, and Casi Paolillo, a User Interface consultant at the company. Jessica has been a Salesforce consultant for a decade, mainly working in the non-profit sector, and specializing in grant management. At the same time, Casi has been a Salesforce consultant for six years and also has grant-making expertise. Jessica and Casi were welcomed by Senior Account Exec at Titan, Ben Miller, who asked these Value Stream Consultants a range of questions on how Titan has positively impacted their business. The conversation pivoted upon what Titan offers non-profits using Salesforce and how Value Stream pushes Titan to be the best we can be.
What makes Value Stream a Trailblazer?
Value Stream, founded in 2002, is one of the most experienced Salesforce consulting firms in the business and is a trailblazer in using Salesforce technology to transform philanthropic projects. The organization works exclusively with non-profits, and some of its goals include eliminating wasteful processes and optimizing philanthropy. Through working with products such as the Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP) and foundation connect, Value Stream has broken new ground for non-profit missions.
Technology to Change the World
How can the power of technology be used to improve the lives of others? This is the question Value Stream Consulting asks and also answers by offering fully customized solutions, 360-degree technical support, integration assistance, and admin expertise for non-profits. Jessica says, “Our team is pretty small, but our depth of experience and expertise shows in pretty big ways.” And this is how Value Stream creates an impact, by making philanthropic projects a reality, and leaving a lasting legacy of positive change.
Titan’s Epic Journey
Ben kicked off the session by giving a rundown of Titan’s history, from our genesis and first flagship product “FormTitan” to the suite of seven enterprise applications for Salesforce we offer today. Titan is all about enhancing the ways that organizations use the #1 CRM and making Salesforce accessible to lots of different types of users. But we don’t need to distract you with the details here; for the full scoop on what we do, check out our homepage. Salesforce Partners for Non-Profits
One of the highlights of the webinar was getting Value Stream’s take on the benefits Salesforce brings to the non-profit world. As Jessica explained, if you are a grantmaker, fundraiser, work in communications, or are employed in any other role in the non-profit sector, Salesforce supports you.
A 360-Degree View of Your Mission
“With its power and flexibility, Salesforce is the world’s number 1 CRM” Jessica unpacks this by elaborating that Salesforce’s Non-Profit Cloud is the world’s most comprehensive platform for non-profits, offering a holistic view of your mission. With over 3000 trailblazers, Salesforce organizes constituents and data, providing scalable solutions for grants, fundraising, operations, and more. Non-profits need effective, targeted ways to interact with their constituents, and Salesforce offers this, enabling philanthropic organizations to have a lasting impact on the world around them.
Salesforce has been very generous in the non-profit world, so for Jessica, the big question is, how can her organization help different organizations using Salesforce?
Transforming the User Experience
And for Value Stream, this is exactly where Titan comes in, bringing accessibility and usability to the table for users both in, and out, of Salesforce. Titan’s suite of drag-and-drop tools for Salesforce enable almost anyone in the non-profit sector to set up intuitive systems, fully integrated with the Salesforce eco-system. Here at Titan, we know what our tools are capable of, and we love hearing how they are implemented in specific business use cases. So Ben asked Jessica and Casi the burning question: how exactly have we helped you?
Value Stream Consulting have implemented Titan within their own ranks, and across their organization’s activities with clients. They have used Titan for a range of tasks such as volunteer waivers, interest forms for fellowships, donor forms, payment integrations, and grantee portals. During this webinar, Jessica and the team, opted to highlight Titan Web and Titan Doc Gen. These products have empowered Value Stream to create grantee hubs, which are seamlessly integrated with Salesforce, as well as donation forms, where all information is fed back to Salesforce in live time.
Grantee Portals & Donor Hubs
Value Stream has harnessed the power of Titan Web and Forms to create customized grantee portals and donor hubs replete with grant information, support for applicants, donor resources, and much more.
Out-of-the-Box Thinking
One “out of the box” way in which Value Stream has used Titan has been to pull data directly from Salesforce through to their websites. Here we are talking about lists of top donors, grants awarded, and stats pertaining to diversity and inclusion. Titan Web can be used to bring all this data through to grantee portals and donor hubs in real-time, so grantmakers, donors, and volunteers in the non-profit industry can get the most up-to-date information at their fingertips.
Smart Applicant Login
For Jessica, Titan’s SmartV extends the ways in which Value Stream, and anyone in the non-profit sector, can use both Titan and Salesforce. SmartV, a feature unique to Titan, enables users to be authenticated based on live Salesforce records. The great part? This tool can be used to authenticate absolutely anyone such as a donor, volunteer, or any individual you decide should be able to interact with your organization. And even better? These are not just Salesforce users but anyone you decide to give access to your portal or hub!
Flexible Authentication
You can set a range of login credentials for SmartV such as an email address, password, social security number, or last name, which becomes verified by attaching it to an existing record in Salesforce. SmartV also has 2FA capability, making it a powerful tool for protecting your information and working documents. A relevant use case? SmartV is a fantastic way for users to save and resume grant applications and university admission materials. Documents like this might well need to be edited and proof-read several times over.
Conditional Logic
Conditional logic is all about customizing the user experience and making it more personal to the individual. For Jessica, “Conditional logic doesn’t just have to be when someone answers a question in an application and another question pops up”. As she points out, conditional logic can also take the form of custom alerts and buttons.
How exactly does this look? Well as demonstrated by Casi, Value Stream has set their websites to place alerts on specific grants and funding opportunities where the deadline has passed. So, if you try and apply for a grant with an elapsed deadline, you will get a notification saying this is impossible. Another simple example of a custom alert message is when you are creating a proposal and filling in a project duration greater than the standard time limit. In this instance, the user will get a warning to notify them that it isn’t possible to create projects beyond the max time duration.
Dictating the User Experience
Conditional logic equips non-profits, like Value Stream, to dictate the user experience. And Value Stream has managed to extend this power to configure more complex, role-based conditional logic using the Titan software. So, when an individual logs into a donor or grantee portal, they can only access certain information based on their contact information and user profile.
Finally, Value Stream has used Titan’s conditional logic for showing or hiding specific sections of forms. Here, users only access relevant parts of a form and skip the rest. For example, a question might pop up, “Are you the project director?” Only if you answer “no” will a section reveal itself, asking who the director is. If you answered yes, you would move on to the next part of the form. This all happens in real-time with super quick, totally live push and pull from Salesforce.
Unlocking Freedom for Non-Profits
For Value Stream, the big takeaway is that with Titan, you can build a website or form any way that you want, using any conditions and without limits. As Jessica puts it, “I’m not sure […] there’s ever been something someone has asked us to do that we haven’t in some way been able to deliver”.
Multi-Object Editing
“A super-powerful feature we absolutely love”, says Jessica, is Titan PowerTables. This feature, included in Titan Web, enables the user to create tables populated with relevant Salesforce records, to effectively manage data. Think of PowerTables as a more robust, function-rich version of an excel spreadsheet. Value Stream has found Titan PowerTables incredibly useful for inputting budget information for a grant application. The interface is user-friendly enough to type in the lines and add information. In this case, the PowerTable contains individual records and related records pertaining to budgets and budget justification. The PowerTable optimizes the quality of data Salesforce provides, makes it accessible, and organizes it in live time.
Budgeting Data at Your Fingertips
Budget year, category, amount requested, total budget, percentage of the total budget, and justification are just some of the data that can be clearly, and intuitively presented by Titan PowerTables. This changes the face of grant budgeting, giving you a more profound, more-informed, and granular view of the data you need, exactly when you want it so that you can make the best decisions for your non-profit organization. For Jessica, with Titan PowerTables, “what we have done for our clients has been amazing, and the things they have been able to eliminate is unprecedented.”
Dynamic Doc Generation for Salesforce
The scope of the webinar didn’t allow much time to fully discuss doc generation, but the team briefly touched on this topic. Value Stream have used Titan Docs, a dynamic, code-free doc builder for Salesforce, to create various documents for the non-profit industry. Titan Docs enables the user to create automated documents, populated with all kinds of useful Salesforce information such as tables, and relevant data for grants, funding requests, and much more. These document templates can be easily, and seamlessly, filled out using a simple add-in for Microsoft word, As Ben puts it, you can “work with different Salesforce objects and fields in Microsoft Word” making it one of the most user-friendly doc generation tools around.
For Jessica, Titan Docs is a great way for someone to check their submission, and have easy access to a copy of their application. Using Titan Web, for instance, you can go back to an application submitted 6 months ago, pull up the old PDF and reference it, just like that. Titan’s Doc generation app can also be used internally as a merge document tool, for a contract or grant agreement. Value Stream has used Titan Docs for a wide range of tasks such as grant agreements, donor receipts, and end of year statements.
On the Horizon
Both Titan and Value Stream plan to continue to work together to create innovative and effective solutions for Salesforce users. In Jessica’s words, “this isn’t the last webinar, we hope to continue teaming up with Titan to bring you more webinars, to show you all the fun stuff Titan has to offer”.
The driving mission of the Titan/ Value Stream partnership is to create connections where there were none, and drive the non-profit mission to new and exciting territory. For Ben, Value Stream is one of those special partners, who “push us to where we want to go”.
