In the Word Addin, add a checkbox option to the “add/edit field” dialog that would cause Titan to insert a blank line if the field is empty. The purpose is to draw the end user’s attention to the fact that there is missing data in the generated document. In effect this is like following the field with a condition containing “______________” that inserts the underline if the field is empty.
It would be very cumbersome to do this throughout every document as a condition. The checkbox would make it very quick and avoid adding more visual complexity to the template.
BTW, The Form Tool (www.theformtool.com) has had this feature for a long time.
