Surveys in Salesforce Lightning

To start creating your surveys in Salesforce Lightning is pretty simple, but are you following all the relevant steps needed to build an exclusive survey that collects relevant data?

Pre-Requisites for Creating Salesforce Surveys

1. Before you even start, make sure you have access to an Enterprise, Performance, or Unlimited edition in Salesforce. Also remember to see the Salesforce Surveys pricing on their website as well.
2. You then need to also have user permissions activated to create a survey.

1. Search for Surveys in the App Launcher and then select it.
2. Click on the New button to open the survey builder.
3. Decide what you would like to name your survey, and remember to only use alphanumeric characters. You also want to make sure that your survey name does not contain any spaces between the characters. This best practice is important to implement as it impacts the setup of your survey in later stages.
4. If you want, you have the option to disable the Welcome page on your survey by clicking the eye icon.
5. You can now click on the Add Page button in the sidebar to add a question page to your survey.
6. Then you can add a question with the Add Question button, and for this demonstration, you can follow us and add a Slider.
7. Type in your question and enter your question values: 0 – Minimum, 1 – Interval, and 10 – Maximum.

As you probably know, survey responses in Salesforce are analyzed and can create actions in relation to these actual responses. For example, if a survey taker responds to your slider question with a rating between 2-5, then a task could be automatically created and added to a queue for you to address.

It’s also important to note, while we are discussing Slider question types, that if you have more than one of these in your survey, you will end up with separate tasks created related to each question, of course. Although, for your convenience, these tasks will be added to one queue.

8. Back to creating your survey, now you can click on the Gear icon to change a question’s properties if you want.
9. Lastly, edit your Thank You page with a custom message and then choose to click on Save, Preview, or Activate.
10. If you are happy with your Salesforce survey functionality and design, you can click on the Activate button to send it to your target audience.

Salesforce Surveys Limitations

Salesforce Surveys is not perfect, like anything in life. Of course, there will be a few limitations to the software. However, having a grasp of what Salesforce cannot achieve can help you take the lead by making research plans ahead of time that cater to any unforeseen risks.
