How to Configure Text and Background Colors with the Affected Elements Node

Overview

Use the Affected Elements node to change an element’s text color or background color when an action runs in the flow. This allows you to visually reflect state, validation, or progress based on user interaction or flow logic, without adding additional elements or messages.

Color changes are applied immediately when the node executes, giving users clear visual feedback as the action occurs.

When to Use This

Use Set Text and Background Color when you want the interface to convey meaning through visual states rather than text or alerts.

This is especially useful when:

• Indicating that an action has completed successfully
• Highlighting values that require attention or review
• Showing progress or focus in multi-step interactions
• Reflecting validation results directly on the affected element

Color changes help users understand what is happening as they interact with the experience.

How to Guide

The element you want to affect (for example, a button) must have an On Click action.

1. Navigate to the On Click Action screen, click Start +, select Affected Elements as the node, and click Next.

2. Select the element(s) you want to affect by clicking the relevant checkbox(es). All elements in the project are listed. If needed, use the Search element(s) field to locate a specific element.
3. From the drop-down list, select the action you want to apply:
   • Set color to change the text color
   • Set background color to change the background color
4. Choose whether the color value should be Static or Dynamic, then select a color using the color picker or enter the value manually. Click Apply to apply the change. A tag in the format Set color [value] or Set background color [value] is added to the selected element(s).
5. Click Next to review the action. If required, update the tag name, then click Insert to add the node to the Actions Flow.
6. Click Apply to save the configuration.

Feature Notes

• Multiple color actions can be applied to the same element
• If multiple actions affect the same property, the last executed action determines the final state
• Color values can be static or driven by variables, including Salesforce data
• Changes occur immediately when the action runs
